Every issue I work on is guided by one simple question: Does this make life better for Hoosiers?

WILL COLTERYAHN: ON THE ISSUES

Making Indiana More Affordable

Hoosiers work hard. But too many families are still struggling to keep up as costs rise faster than paychecks.

Housing, groceries, childcare, and healthcare are taking a bigger bite out of family budgets, while large corporations continue to benefit from special tax breaks and loopholes. That’s not fair, and it’s not sustainable.

I’ll fight for an economy that rewards work, lowers everyday costs, and ensures working families aren’t carrying more than their share. When businesses benefit from our schools, infrastructure, and workforce, they should contribute fairly to the communities that make their success possible.

Strong, Transparent Public Schools

Public schools are the foundation of strong communities and a strong economy.

Every child deserves access to a well-funded classroom, the support they need to succeed, and opportunities that prepare them for the future. Educators deserve respect, resources, and a voice in the decisions that affect their classrooms.

I’ll work to fully fund public schools, support inclusive learning environments, and strengthen transparency and communication between parents, teachers, and lawmakers. When families and educators are treated as partners, schools thrive.

Affordable, High-Quality Childcare

Reliable childcare shouldn't be a luxury. It’s essential for working families and a healthy economy.

Too many parents are forced to make impossible choices between their careers and caring for their children. At the same time, childcare providers are struggling to stay open and keep costs reasonable.

I’ll support policies that expand access to affordable, high-quality childcare, invest in early childhood development, and help parents stay in the workforce. Supporting families early strengthens our communities for the long term.

Dignity for Seniors and People with Disabilities

Every Hoosier deserves the chance to live independently, safely, and with dignity.

I’ve spent much of my career working with seniors and people with disabilities, and I’ve seen how life-changing the right supports can be. I’ve also seen how difficult it becomes when services are underfunded or hard to access.

I’ll advocate for strong home- and community-based services, support caregivers, and policies that allow people to live, work, and age where they choose. Respect and dignity should never be optional.

Healthcare That Puts People First

Healthcare should be affordable, accessible, and focused on patients, not profits.

Too many families are facing rising costs, confusing bills, and fewer choices as large healthcare systems grow more powerful. Decisions about care should be made by patients and their doctors, not politicians or corporate boards.

I’ll work to protect patient choice, strengthen local hospitals, and demand transparency and accountability from healthcare providers. Hoosiers deserve healthcare they can trust without government interference.

A Government That Works

Good government isn’t about ideology, it’s about results and a government that can not take care of it's citizens, is one that doesn't deserve to exist.

I believe public dollars should be used wisely, responsibly, and with compassion. Government should be a partner in people’s success, not an obstacle in their way.

With more than two decades of experience in public service, I know how to make systems work better — and how to hold them accountable when they don’t.
